# Funding one inventory order when you sell across several channels

If your brand sells through marketplaces, your own online store and wholesale accounts, each channel pays you on a different schedule. Put every expected receipt on one calendar, subtract holdbacks and ongoing costs, and compare the result with the supplier deadline. The calendar below shows a hypothetical four-week view, with no particular software or platform assumed.

## Hypothetical example: cross-channel receipt calendar for a $36,000 supplier order due in week 3

| Week | Marketplaces (net of holdback) | Own online store | Wholesale accounts | Total cash in |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $7,200 | $4,300 | $0 | $11,500 |
| 2 | $6,800 | $4,100 | $0 | $10,900 |
| 3 | $7,000 | $4,400 | $9,000 | $20,400 |
| 4 | $7,400 | $4,200 | $0 | $11,600 |
| Total | $28,400 | $17,000 | $9,000 | $54,400 |

- Receipts through week 3: $11,500 + $10,900 + $20,400 = $42,800.
- Ongoing costs at $9,500 per week for 3 weeks: $28,500.
- Cash left for the order by week 3: $42,800 - $28,500 = $14,300.
- Shortfall against the $36,000 order: $36,000 - $14,300 = $21,700.
- Holdback example: week 1 gross marketplace sales of $8,000 less a 10% holdback of $800 is $7,200 received.
All amounts are hypothetical. Use your own payout reports and bank deposits for each channel; the point is to see one combined picture, not three separate ones.

## How do you combine receipts from every sales channel?

Start with your bank deposits, not each channel's dashboard, because deposits show what actually arrived and when.

Open three months of statements and label each deposit by source: marketplaces, your own online store, wholesale accounts or other. Then build a four- to eight-week forward calendar with expected receipts per source. In the example, the four-week total is $54,400, split $28,400, $17,000 and $9,000.

You do not need special software. A spreadsheet with one row per week and one column per source is enough, and a funder can read it quickly. Our overview for [ecommerce sellers](https://primefundingnow.com/industries/ecommerce-sellers/) covers the other places this kind of order planning shows up.

## Why does payout timing matter more than sales volume?

A sale is not cash until the payout arrives, and each channel pays on its own rhythm, so strong sales can still leave you short on the day the supplier is due.

Marketplaces often pay out in batches after a delay, your own store may deposit within a few days, and wholesale accounts pay when the invoice terms say they will. The example's $9,000 wholesale receipt lands in week 3, the same week the $36,000 supplier order is due.

Map the payout day for every source, then mark the supplier due date on the same calendar. If receipts arrive after the deadline, that is a timing gap, which is different from a profitability problem. Our guide on how to [buy inventory before a marketplace payout arrives](https://primefundingnow.com/guides/buy-inventory-before-marketplace-payout-arrives/) explores this scenario in more detail.

## How should you plan around the supplier deadline?

Work out what cash will actually be free on the deadline date after your ongoing costs, then size your request to the shortfall.

Receipts through week 3 are $42,800. If advertising, payroll, rent and other costs run $9,500 a week, that is $28,500, leaving $14,300. The order costs $36,000, so the gap is $21,700. That, not the full $36,000, is the starting point for your request.

A request sized to the gap is easier to repay than one sized to the invoice. Remember that money you spend on this order cannot also pay next month's bills, so keep a small cushion. If the supplier offers a deposit-and-balance structure, the gap may shrink further.

Revenue-based products repay as sales come in, which can suit a brand with uneven channel receipts. See [revenue-based financing for product sellers](https://primefundingnow.com/funding-solutions/revenue-based-financing-for-product-sellers/) for how that works, and compare it with other options.

## What should you reserve for returns and holdbacks?

Holdbacks and returns reduce the cash you can count on, so build them into the calendar rather than hoping they stay small.

Marketplaces may hold back part of each payout as a reserve against returns or disputes, as in the 10% holdback in the example. Your own store faces refunds, and wholesale accounts may deduct damaged goods or allowances. Each one lowers the cash in your forecast.

Use your own history. Look at the last three months of returns by channel and apply that rate to your forecast. If a channel has seasonal return spikes, use the higher figure. A forecast with conservative holdbacks is more believable to a funder and safer for you.

When your calendar is ready, include it with your [online application](https://primefundingnow.com/apply/) so a funder sees all three channels together.

## Frequently asked questions

**Do I need to connect my sales channels to apply?**

No. Prime's application does not require connecting any channel. You describe the purchase and provide bank statements and the supplier quote, and your receipt calendar helps explain how the order will be repaid.

**How do I show income from several channels?**

Use recent business bank statements, labelling deposits by source, plus a simple forward calendar like the one above. Funders want a clear picture of where cash comes from and when it arrives.

**What if my payouts are uneven month to month?**

Say so. Show the best and worst of the last three months and plan the order using the lower figures. An honest range is more credible than an average that hides gaps.

**Which documents are commonly requested?**

Recent business bank statements, a government-issued ID, a voided business check and the supplier quote or purchase order. Larger or longer requests may add tax returns or financial statements.

**Can sole proprietors apply?**

Yes. Sole proprietors can apply, as long as they own at least 50% of the business. Non-profits cannot apply. Terms depend on the product and the strength of the business.
